The pitter patter of little feet could be heard hurrying towards the kitchen. The footsteps stopped when a young girl could be seen carrying a stool, settling it down in front of the counter and then climbing up to stand on it. It was 5 AM and 8 year old Tohru Honda woke up this early for a good reason. She was going to cook her mother breakfast. It was nothing fancy. Just a simple omelet rice that Tohru learned how to cook the week before and she wanted it to be perfect. Hopefully, she will be done before her mother stirred from slumber.

She tried her best to keep it quiet in order not to wake Kyoko up, carefully beating the eggs and washing the rice that was to be cooked. However, there was still a loud hissing sound when Tohru poured the egg batter into the frying pan. It wasn't the sound that woke her mother up though. It was the smell that was wafting all throughout the apartment.

"Tohruuuuuuu?" her groggy voice rang out, making Tohru squeak in surpise. "What's that smell?"

"I-I-It's nothing!" Hurry, hurry, hurry!

"Reaaaalllly?" Kyoko yawned, coming out of the bedroom and making her way towards the kitchen. "It smells like..."

Their eyes met, making the older woman pause to take in the scene before her. Tohru looked like Kyoko caught her stealing out of the cookie jar.

Before she could even explain herself, Kyoko ran towards Tohru and swopped in to give her daughter the biggest hug she could muster. "Oh Tohru~! You're cooking breakfast for me?? I'm so happy~~~~"

"M-mom--! C-can't breathe..."

Kyoko merely laughed, hugging the girl even tighter into her bosom. "It's okay! Mommy will give you CPR if you pass out~~"

[Tohru wakes up with a start, bringing the covers closer to her chest. It has been a while since she dreamed about her mother. She smiles, bringing a hand to her chest, savoring the good memory as much as she can. The girl doesn't even notice that the Dreamberry's light flashing through the darkness of her room.]

[A pause. He was just about ready to hang up.]

Yeah?

... My mom passed away, Jessamine-san. It has been... two years.

Mom had one wish for me. That I graduate from high school because she wasn't able to. I still want to grant that wish for her even though I'm here.
